Clipping in isn't always the right answer when it comes to mountain biking. Flat pedals make it easier for a rider to put their foot down if they're going around a tight corner and the newest pedal designs prevent slipping. The Shimano XT PD-M8040 Flat Pedals are optimized for trail riding and with 10 pins on each side that provide excellent grip. It comes in two different body sizes, which also means a different Q-factor. The M8040 has a fore-aft concave for a superior feel.
